Solo Leveling

Release Date: Jan 4, 2025
Studio: A-1
A-1 Pictures' Solo Leveling adapts the South Korean manhwa by Chugong across two seasons on Crunchyroll, following Sung Jinwoo's transformation from the world's weakest E-rank hunter into something the dungeon system has never produced before. Director Shunsuke Nakashige pushed the adaptation's action sequences hard enough that the series swept the Crunchyroll Anime Awards in 2025, including Anime of the Year. The Solo Leveling voice cast gave Crunchyroll's English dub one of its sharpest ensembles in years: Aleks Le leads as Jinwoo, with Christopher R. Sabat, Justin Briner, and Michelle Rojas rounding out a cast that went through two full seasons of escalating combat and character work.

Solo Leveling Season 1 and 2: A-1 Pictures, Crunchyroll, and the Making of the English Dub

Solo Leveling is built around a power-growth premise that could turn repetitive in less careful hands, but A-1 Pictures and director Shunsuke Nakashige kept the adaptation grounded in Jinwoo’s internal state rather than just his external wins. The series ran for two seasons on Crunchyroll, with Season 1 covering Jinwoo’s awakening and Season 2, Arise from the Shadow, expanding into national-level hunter territory. Voice director Caitlin Glass oversaw the English dub across both seasons, drawing from Crunchyroll’s Funimation talent pool actors with long shonen dubbing histories who understood the genre’s pacing demands.

Aleks Le, Sabat, Briner, Rojas – Solo Leveling Voice Cast Spotlight

The Solo Leveling voice cast earns its reputation across four central performances. Aleks Le voices Sung Jinwoo and won Best Voice Artist Performance (English) at the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, tracking Jinwoo’s shift from barely functional to genuinely terrifying across two seasons. Le also voiced Thorfinn in Vinland Saga‘s Netflix dub, a role with similar demands: quiet grief beneath surface toughness. Justin Briner plays Yoo Jinho; best known as Izuku “Deku” Midoriya in My Hero Academia, his facility with earnest, slightly overmatched characters fits Jinho’s position in the story precisely. Christopher R. Sabat takes Baek Yoonho, and his decades voicing Vegeta and All Might put real institutional weight behind the character. Michelle Rojas voices Cha Hae-in, bringing the controlled precision she developed as Yamato in One Piece.
