Before All Might, Scar in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood cemented Miyake as the go-to voice for morally complex muscle. The character’s arc from cold antagonist to reluctant ally demanded both menace and quiet tragedy, a range that Miyake navigated without ever softening the character’s physical ferocity. These back-to-back high-profile roles across the late 2000s and 2010s positioned him as one of the most in-demand seiyuu for action-driven ensemble casts.

Hollywood Dubs, Video Games, and a Career Still Expanding

Miyake’s work extends well beyond anime. As the established Japanese voice of Chris Hemsworth, he dubbed the actor across the full run of MCU Thor films, plus action features like Extraction and 12 Strong. In video games, his credits include Gladiolus Amicitia in Final Fantasy XV, Zangief in Street Fighter, Leongar in Kirby and the Forgotten Land, and Giovanni across multiple Pokemon titles. The God of War franchise added Kratos to his list in 2026, marking another globally recognized gaming icon now carrying his voice in Japanese.

Recent seasons have kept his schedule full. Kaiju No. 8 cast him as the formidable Kaiju No. 10 in its 2024 run, and 2026 brought both the Rooster Fighter adaptation and the Steel Ball Run premiere.
