The premise of Kaiju No. 8 runs on a specific pressure: Kafka Hibino is not a chosen hero or a secret weapon. He is a middle-aged man doing cleanup work after battles he is not allowed to fight, watching his childhood friend Mina Ashiro command a Defense Force division he could never qualify for. Production I.G brings that frustration into the animation, with fight choreography that communicates what is at stake for each character physically. The simultaneous dub release meant Crunchyroll’s team was building the English cast in parallel with the Japanese broadcast, no wait-and-see.

The Kaiju No. 8 English dub voice cast puts its most consequential casting at the center. Nazeeh Tarsha voices Kafka; he built his Crunchyroll career on controlled intensity, particularly as Chobei Aza in Hell’s Paradise, where cheerful delivery masked real menace. Kafka requires the inverse, a warm exterior on top of something monstrous, and Tarsha handles both registers. Adam McArthur plays Reno Ichikawa; he has been Yuji Itadori across three seasons of Jujutsu Kaisen, a role built on the same energetic loyalty Reno operates on, and that dynamic carries the series’ friendship. Landon McDonald voices Soshiro Hoshina; his most-cited credit is Enmu in Demon Slayer, and that controlled threat transfers intact to the Defense Force’s swordsman. Katelyn Barr plays Mina Ashiro, whose career trajectory haunts Kafka across every episode.
