Aleks Le’s Rise From Immigrant Kid to Anime’s Biggest English Voice

Cartoons and video games were not hobbies for a young Aleks Le – they were survival tools. Moving from Hanoi to the United States at age 10 with no knowledge of English, Le absorbed the language through screens and speakers, developing an ear for voice performance long before he ever set foot in a recording booth. That formative relationship with animation and games drew a straight line to his career as one of the most in-demand voice actors in English-language anime dubbing.

His professional credits began accumulating around 2019, with smaller parts at Bang Zoom! Entertainment, Funimation, and Studiopolis before key roles locked in his trajectory. The breakout came with Zenitsu Agatsuma in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – a character whose vocal demands are genuinely extreme. Zenitsu exists at two poles: a shrieking, cowardly teen consumed by panic, and a lethal thunder god who only surfaces during sleep. Le navigated that spectrum across every season, film, and arc of the franchise, building one of the most recognized English anime voices of his generation.

Solo Leveling and the Award That Changed Everything

Fighting games opened a different lane. Cast as Luke Sullivan in Street Fighter V and Street Fighter 6, Le voiced a character who became the face of Capcom’s new direction for the series. His ad-libbed “Let’s go!” during recording became an in-joke with staying power among the fighting game community.

The role that elevated him beyond the dubbing circuit arrived in 2024: Sung Jin-woo in Solo Leveling. The part required a sustained vocal transformation across an entire season, gradually lowering his register as the protagonist evolves from powerless hunter to something close to a god. The performance earned him Best Voice Artist Performance at the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards and the Astra TV Awards’ inaugural Best Lead Voice-Over Performance – the first time an anime voice acting performance had won at a Hollywood-adjacent ceremony.

Games, Marvel, and the Immigrant Thread

The gaming credits run deep: the Protagonist in Persona 3 Reload, Sonon Kusakabe in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Daredevil in Marvel Rivals. Le has spoken openly about carrying his background as a Vietnamese-American immigrant into every role, including his work voicing a Southeast Asian character in Cartoon Network’s Craig of the Creek. Outside the booth, he maintains a YouTube channel with over 744,000 subscribers and a TikTok following exceeding 900,000, keeping him directly connected to the fan communities that follow his work.
