Ryan Colt Levy’s Path from Music to Voice Acting
Long before microphones and character sheets, Ryan Colt Levy spent over a decade fronting the indie band BRAEVES, touring as a singer and guitarist. A move to Los Angeles in 2015 opened the door to theater and film work, and improv classes soon led him into recording booths. By his own account, the transition stuck because he found voice work more rewarding than on-camera acting, and by 2019 the medium had become his primary focus.
Chainsaw Man and the Rise of Denji
Landing the role of Denji in Chainsaw Man reshaped his career. The performance earned him the Best Voice Artist Performance (English) award at the 2024 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, and it later carried him into Chainsaw Man: The Movie, Reze Arc, marking his first lead role in a theatrical feature.
My Hero Academia, Iruma-kun, and a Growing Résumé
Rody Soul in My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission and Jazz in Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun rounded out a run of high-profile English dub casting through the early 2020s. Earlier credits include John H. Watson in Moriarty the Patriot and Arash in the Fate/Grand Order feature film Camelot: Wandering; Agateram, roles that showed range across drama and action.
