Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc

Release Date: Sep 19, 2025
Studio: MAPPA
MAPPA's Chainsaw Man: The Movie Reze Arc opened in Japan on September 19, 2025, adapting the Bomb Girl arc of Tatsuki Fujimoto's manga across what became one of the highest-grossing Japanese films of the year. Director Tatsuya Yoshihara the series' own action director stepping into the lead chair — pushed the animation closer to Fujimoto's source material than the TV season managed, and the result earned a 96% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes and $191 million worldwide. The Chainsaw Man Reze Arc voice cast returns Ryan Colt Levy as Denji and Suzie Yeung as Makima, with Alexis Tipton joining the franchise as Reze in what critics called one of the year's best English dub performances.

Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc | About the Film and Voice Cast

The Reze Arc gave MAPPA a chance to do something the TV season couldn’t: concentrate the pacing. Adapting chapters 40 through 52 of Fujimoto’s manga into a single theatrical runtime, director Tatsuya Yoshihara and screenwriter Hiroshi Seko stripped back the connective tissue and leaned into the film’s central dynamic: a love story built on betrayal, running inside an action film built on carnage. Yoshihara was the action director on Chainsaw Man’s first season, so the fight sequences here represent the same creative sensibility finally given a feature budget. It streamed on Crunchyroll from April 30, 2026.

Chainsaw Man Reze Arc Voice Actors: Casting Spotlight

The Chainsaw Man Reze Arc voice cast makes its most consequential decision with Alexis Tipton as Reze. Tipton’s credits include Kurumi Tokisaki in Date A Live and Kaguya Shinomiya in Kaguya-sama: Love Is War, two characters who operate behind charm while concealing something dangerous. That ability to sell warmth over threat is exactly what Reze requires. Casey Mongillo reprises Angel Devil, a character who gets considerably more to do in the film than in the series. Mongillo is best known as Shinji Ikari in Netflix’s 2019 Neon Genesis Evangelion dub, and the capacity for quiet exhaustion they brought to Shinji maps onto a character who would rather die than keep existing. Suzie Yeung returns as Makima, whose presence over the film is as suffocating as it was across the series.
