Minions & Monsters (2026)

Minions & Monsters: Illumination Heads to Old Hollywood
Coffin built Minions & Monsters around a specific idea: the Minions’ chaos was always the quality that made them cinematic. Set in 1927, as the shift from silent film to talkies was rearranging the industry, the film uses Hollywood history as scaffolding for slapstick that escalates into monster-movie territory. Brian Lynch, who wrote the original Minions and The Secret Life of Pets, returns as co-writer. John Powell composes the score, his third Illumination collaboration after The Lorax and Migration. Coffin has voiced every Minion since Despicable Me (2010) and introduces four new ones here: James, Henry, Ed, and Dick.
Minions & Monsters Voice Cast: Waltz, Bridges, Janney, and the Hollywood Ensemble
The Minions & Monsters voice cast earns its billing. Christoph Waltz plays Max, a European director whose set gets overrun by Minions; two Oscars for Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained have given him a precise command of pomposity played straight. Jeff Bridges doubles as Frank and Elwood Bright, twin studio heads backing Max’s picture. Prior voice work in Surf’s Up and The Little Prince shows Bridges can carry scenes on delivery alone, his laconic warmth suiting characters whose power runs quietly. Allison Janney returns as Olivia, the museum guide narrating the story; she voiced Madge Nelson in Minions (2015), and her West Wing and I, Tonya credentials confirm she can anchor a cold open. Trey Parker voices Goomi, the Lovecraftian creature the Minions conjure, a natural fit for South Park‘s co-creator.
