Steps 2026

Release Date: Nov 20, 2026
Studio: Netflix Animation Studios

Cinderella’s stepsisters have been the punchline for centuries, and Netflix Animation Studios finally hands them the wand. Directed by Alyce Tzue and John Ripa, Steps follows Lilith, who hijacks the Royal Ball with a stolen magic wand and accidentally turns her sister Margot into a frog. It is the first feature fully produced in-house at the studio, with Amy Poehler among the producers, and it reaches Netflix on November 20, 2026 at roughly 92 minutes. The Steps voice cast pairs Ali Wong and Stephanie Hsu with Amanda Seyfried, giving the fairy tale’s overlooked sisters comic heavyweights to carry the story.

Steps (2026) on Netflix: Cinderella’s Stepsisters Take the Lead

Netflix built Steps around a simple reversal: the villains of a story everyone knows get to tell it. The directors set a rich, textured visual world against the kingdom of Alouette’s rigid storybook order, and the contrast does half the comedy’s work. Tzue, a Student Academy Award winner, makes her feature debut here, while Ripa co-directed Raya and the Last Dragon. The animation came from the studio’s own offices in Los Angeles, Sydney and Vancouver. Irreverent material like this lives or dies on delivery, so the casting leans on performers with proven timing rather than polished fairy-tale voices.

Steps Voice Cast: Ali Wong, Stephanie Hsu, Bette Midler and Daniel Radcliffe

The Steps voice cast starts with Ali Wong as Lilith. Her BEEF credits show a gift for frazzled, put-upon comedy, which fits a sister tired of living in someone else’s shadow. Stephanie Hsu, who swung between farce and heartbreak in Everything Everywhere All at Once, plays Margot, the sibling dragged along by Lilith’s scheme, and that range keeps a supporting sister from becoming a mere straight woman. Bette Midler, the Hocus Pocus legend, takes the Fairy Godmother, and her theatrical instincts suit a magic-wand custodian whose wand gets stolen. Daniel Radcliffe, forever Harry Potter, voices the Prince, a role the directors wanted to feel unlike any storybook prince audiences have met, and an actor with his appetite for playing against type is a sensible pick.

Steps Characters and Voice Actors: Cinderella, Priscilla, Roderick and Cracktor

The remaining Steps voice actors fill out the film’s crowded fairy-tale circus. Amanda Seyfried plays Cinderella and also sings on the soundtrack, Nikki Glaser is the tyrannical Priscilla, Peter Dinklage voices the man-nanny Roderick, Young Mazino the heartthrob Gef, and WWE’s Damian Priest the monster-man Cracktor. Each performer has a dedicated character page covering the role and the credits behind it. Start with the sisters at the centre of the chaos, then follow the schemers and sidekicks outward from there.
