Nobuhiko Okamoto

Nobuhiko Okamoto’s Rise Through Anime’s Most Intense Roles
Tokyo raised him, and by his mid-twenties he had already claimed one of the industry’s toughest breakout awards. Auditioning for Accelerator in A Certain Magical Index meant stepping far from the soft-spoken characters he had voiced up to that point, and the gamble paid off with the Best New Actor prize at the 3rd Seiyu Awards in 2009, shared with Yuki Kaji. Two years later the Best Supporting Actor award followed, this time for a trio of very different parts: Takumi Usui in Maid Sama!, Eiji Niizuma in Bakuman, and a continuing run as Accelerator.
Katsuki Bakugo and the My Hero Academia Era
Few roles have defined a seiyuu’s decade the way Katsuki Bakugo defined this one. From the anime’s 2016 debut through its final season and the feature films, including My Hero Academia: You’re Next in 2024, the explosive rival-turned-ally became a signature performance built on controlled volatility. Alongside Bakugo, long stretches as Rin Okumura in Blue Exorcist, Karma Akabane in Assassination Classroom, and Yu Nishinoya in Haikyu!! kept his schedule packed with franchise leads rather than one-off guest spots.
Raccoon Dog and a Widening Catalogue
When Pro-Fit announced its closure in 2022, he did not simply move to another agency; he built one. Raccoon Dog launched that April with thirty-plus performers in tow, and he has run it as its representative ever since. The catalogue kept growing regardless: Genya Shinazugawa in Demon Slayer, Garfiel Tinsel in Re:Zero, Himmel in Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, and Liebe in Black Clover each added a distinct register to an already wide range. Video game work runs parallel, from Accelerator’s continuing appearances to Sasaki Ganryu in Onimusha: Way of the Sword.
Recent and Upcoming Work
2025 and 2026 have kept the pace steady, with Natsuki Seba in Sakamoto Days, a return to Karma Akabane for the Assassination Classroom film, Genya Shinazugawa carried into the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle trilogy, and new casting as Yo Nihiruda in High School! Kimengumi. A parallel music career under the Kiramune and Lantis labels, including the 2025 single Kirazakura, continues alongside the acting work.
