Reiji Kirihara

Being the reserve heir to a storied ninja bloodline comes with a weight that Reiji Kirihara can't set down in Black Torch. His posting to the Bureau of Espionage's newly formed Black Torch unit puts him shoulder to shoulder with the very kind of threat that already tore his family apart.

Reiji Kirihara’s Family Legacy and Personality

Sword work runs in his blood. The Kirihara clan built its name on iaijutsu, and Reiji carries that discipline into every fight with a katana in hand. Underneath the rough edges and quick temper sits someone genuinely loyal, the kind of teammate who softens once trust is earned. That trust doesn’t come easily, though. He balks at first when asked to work alongside Jiro Azuma, a boy fused with a mononoke, and their early exchanges are more fists than words. Family history explains a lot of his guardedness. His father died and his older brother Shinji turned into something monstrous during a failed succession ritual, leaving Reiji to fight what remains of his own sibling and to carry a family name that others in the Bureau now treat with suspicion.

Who Voices Reiji Kirihara in Black Torch?

Junya Enoki provides the Japanese performance, an actor better known to global anime fans as the voice of Yuji Itadori in Jujutsu Kaisen. Kyle McCarley handles the English dub, bringing experience from his lead role as Shigeo Kageyama in Mob Psycho 100 and 9S in NieR: Automata to Reiji’s sharper, more guarded energy.
