As the Federal Bureau of Control's high-security containment wing supervisor, he has spent years managing Altered Items and Objects of Power that most agents would sprint past without a second glance, and he has done it with a level of bureaucratic devotion that borders on the obsessive.

Langston returns in Control Resonant as the FBC grapples with a new wave of Panopticon breaches triggered by the mysterious Resonant frequency sweeping through the Oldest House. The same neurotic energy that made him memorable in the original Control is still very much present here. He is a man who takes containment protocols as seriously as most people take breathing, and who quietly resents how little credit the Panopticon gets until something goes catastrophically wrong. His scenes opposite the enigmatic janitor Ahti have become a highlight, with Langston perpetually flustered by the older man’s eccentric requests and unnerving calm. Beneath the flustered monologues about protocol violations and rotation schedules, however, there is a genuine commitment to keeping his staff safe that makes him one of the more quietly compelling figures in the Bureau’s cast.

Derek Hagen reprises the role of Frederick Langston, the performance he originated in the 2019 original. A Canadian-born, UK-based actor who has built most of his career in gaming voiceover and motion capture, Hagen brings a distinctive mix of exasperation and dry wit to Langston that has kept the character one of the most talked-about supporting presences in the Control universe. Outside of the Oldest House, he is also known for voicing Orson Mills across the Hitman: World of Assassination trilogy and for his role as Midas in Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands.
