Koga

Becoming the strongest Mononoke alive isn't just a goal for Koga, it's the only thing he ever talks about. What he doesn't broadcast is the truth of his own origin, a secret buried by the very man he serves.

Koga’s Origins and Personality

Amagi and Jiro’s father spent years attempting to artificially create a Mononoke, and Koga is the result of that experiment, born from Amagi’s own power combined with borrowed resources and technology. Amagi never told him the truth of his creation, introducing him instead as a simple compatriot. When the Amagi incident throws everything into chaos, Koga escapes the Bureau with nowhere to go, eventually wandering into a remote mountain temple kept by a blind old monk who takes him in despite knowing exactly what he is. Underneath the boasting about becoming an ogre lord or worse lies a real streak of mischief and childlike curiosity. In a fight he summons a massive Eku-type weapon and can tear open Torii gates to move between the Hidden Realms and the human world, strong enough to shrug off blows that would fell most opponents.

Who Voices Koga in Black Torch?

Nobuhiko Okamoto voices Koga in the original Japanese version, an actor best known for playing Katsuki Bakugo in My Hero Academia, Himmel in Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, and Genya Shinazugawa in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. For the same-day English dub produced by Studiopolis, Luis Bermudez takes on the role of Koga, marking one of his first major anime credits.
