Elsie Lovelock’s Rise Through Independent Animation

Brighton gave the world a singer before it gave it a voice actress. Elsie Lovelock, born June 10, 1992, started performing in musical theatre at 16, absorbing stage craft and vocal discipline long before she ever sat down in a recording booth. Her path into voice acting ran through a YouTube channel she launched in 2008, where she uploaded over 200 self-mixed song covers that collectively topped 70 million views. That audience was the proof of concept: the voice worked, the soprano range was real, and the presence translated across a microphone.

Animation found her gradually. Early credits included small roles in anime dubbing through Funimation and Sound Cadence, alongside indie game projects that gave her room to experiment. The shift from side performer to lead came through Glitch Productions, an Australian indie studio whose output would define the next chapter of her career.

Glitch Productions and the Character That Changed Everything

When Glitch Productions launched Murder Drones in October 2021, the studio cast Lovelock as Uzi Doorman – a rebellious teenage Worker Drone navigating oppression, violence, and an increasingly fractured sense of identity. The show ran through eight episodes before concluding in August 2024, and Uzi became one of the most discussed characters in web animation during that window. The performance required Lovelock to hold a wiry, sardonic energy across scenes that shifted from dark comedy to genuine emotional weight, and she did it without letting either register overwhelm the other.

Glitch kept her busy beyond that. She voices Evelyn Claythorne and Bo in Meta Runner, took on the role of Meggy Spletzer in SMG4 from 2022, and appears as the Gloink Queen in The Amazing Digital Circus. The studio has publicly credited her as their most-used voice actress across their full catalogue.

Horror, Horror Comedy, and Mommy Long Legs

Outside Glitch, one role crossed over into mainstream gaming awareness. In Poppy Playtime Chapter 2, Lovelock voiced Mommy Long Legs – a gangly, spider-limbed antagonist whose surface warmth curdles into something genuinely unsettling. The character became a viral fixture in gaming content, and the performance sits as one of the more effective examples of horror voice work in the indie horror genre: controlled sweetness deployed as a threat rather than comfort.

Iron Lung, Markiplier’s independent horror film, added another entry on that side of her catalogue. She voices Elli, described as a terrifying eel monster – a smaller credit but one that signals consistent placement in horror-adjacent independent projects that lean on character rather than budget.

Gaming Credits and the Gacha Expansion

Lovelock has steadily built a parallel track in games. Baldur’s Gate 3, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, Metaphor: ReFantazio, and Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader all carry her voice in supporting roles. On the gacha side, she voices Lucy in Zenless Zone Zero from version 1.1 onward, Lynae in Wuthering Waves, Xaihi in Arknights: Endfield, and has additional credits in Genshin Impact and Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising. The spread across both prestige RPGs and live-service titles reflects a working session actress who operates out of a home studio equipped well enough to service international game productions remotely.

The Hazbin Hotel Pilot and Musical Reach

Before the Amazon Prime adaptation cast a different actress for the lead role, Lovelock provided the singing voice for Charlie Morningstar in Vivienne Medrano’s Hazbin Hotel pilot. That short landed in 2019 with enormous online impact, and her vocal contribution to Charlie’s musical numbers gave the character much of its emotional range. The credit remains a touchstone for her profile – evidence that her soprano could carry a lead in animation, even when the full role later went elsewhere.

Her most recent Glitch credit, Miss Information in the new Gameoverse series, continues a relationship with the studio that spans nearly every major project they have released. Alongside that, her Class of ’09 work as Nicole expanded into The Flip Side in 2024.
