Eden Riegel’s Path from Broadway to the Booth

At age seven, Eden Riegel and her brother Sam answered an open casting call in Washington, D.C., and walked out with spots on a national touring production of Les Miserables – Eden as Young Cosette, Sam as Little Gavroche. That early stage work set a trajectory that would run through Broadway, Harvard University, a White House internship under the Clinton administration, and eventually a Daytime Emmy Award before she ever settled into a recording booth as a career voice performer.

Her television breakthrough arrived on All My Children, where she played Bianca Montgomery – the first openly gay main character in American daytime drama history. The portrayal drew critical recognition, a loyal audience, and a 2005 Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actress. She returned to the role multiple times over the years, including in Prospect Park’s online continuation of the series in 2013.

Sherry Birkin and the Resident Evil Legacy

Among game franchises, the Resident Evil series gave Riegel her most sustained video game identity. She first stepped into the role of Sherry Birkin – the young daughter of researcher William Birkin – in Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City in 2012, then reprised the character in Resident Evil 6 the same year. That Resident Evil 6 performance put Sherry at the center of one of the game’s major campaigns, this time as an adult government agent with significantly expanded screen time. In 2026, Riegel returned to the character once more in Resident Evil: Requiem, marking over a decade of continuity in one of gaming’s most recognizable horror franchises.

NieR, Persona, and the JRPG Catalog

Outside Raccoon City, Riegel built a considerable presence across Japanese RPG titles localized for Western audiences. In Yoko Taro’s NieR: Automata, she voiced both Devola and Popola – a pair of android sisters who carry significant emotional weight across the game’s multiple endings. She returned to those characters in NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139… and again in the NieR:Automata Ver1.1a anime adaptation.

The Persona series added further depth to her JRPG credits. Her role as Marie in Persona 4 Golden spans the expanded re-release and carried over into Persona 4: Arena Ultimax, Persona 4: Dancing All Night, and Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth. In Persona 5, she voiced Hifumi Togo, a role she reprised in Persona 5 Royal and Persona 5 Tactica. The Trails of Cold Steel series contributed Duvalie across four entries, while Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition gave her another signature JRPG role in Estellise Sidos Heurassein.

Disney Animation and the Voice Direction Work

Parallel to her performance credits, Riegel carved out a second career track as a voice director for Disney Television Animation. She served as voice director on Amphibia, The Owl House, The Ghost and Molly McGee, and Hailey’s On It!, earning Children’s and Family Emmy nominations for her directorial work. On screen in those same productions, she also voiced characters – Boscha and additional voices in The Owl House, Kiara in The Lion Guard, and multiple supporting roles across Amphibia and The Ghost and Molly McGee.

Her animation work extends to non-Disney titles as well. She voiced the Handler in Monster Hunter: World, May in Guilty Gear: Strive, Coco Bandicoot in Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time and Crash Team Rumble, and Princess Cookie in Cookie Run: Kingdom. In 2025, she stepped into an original sci-fi role as Gwen (Guinevere) in the Glitch Productions pilot Knights of Guinevere, further extending her range into independent animation.
