Royce

Night City’s Watson district has a particular problem with the Maelstrom gang, and at the center of that problem sits one Simon “Royce” Randall. Introduced during “The Pickup,” one of Cyberpunk 2077‘s earliest main jobs, he sets the tone for just how unpredictable and dangerous Night City’s gang landscape truly is.
Personality and Story Role
Cold, calculating, and trigger-happy in equal measure, Royce clawed his way to the top of Maelstrom by overthrowing the former boss, Brick, and locking him up rather than killing him outright. He raids corporate transports, sells stolen tech, and greets every outsider with barely concealed hostility. What looks like pure psychosis may actually be a deliberate performance designed to keep rivals and allies alike in a permanent state of fear. Player choices during “The Pickup” determine whether he survives the Militech raid on the All Foods Factory or ends up a casualty of the very deal V was sent to close.
Cybernetic Threat in Combat
Royce is a heavily augmented human, and his body reflects the Maelstrom philosophy of pushing cybertechnology to its absolute limits. When pushed into a direct confrontation, he dons an armored exoskeleton that turns the final factory room into a punishing boss encounter. His implants blur the line between man and machine, embodying exactly the kind of cyberpsychosis spiral the game warns V about from the very beginning.
Voice Cast
The English voice behind Royce is widely attributed to Gavin Hammon, a prolific Bay Area voice actor whose credit for the role was never officially confirmed by CD Projekt Red. Hammon is best known for his gut-punch portrayal of Kenny across both seasons of Telltale’s The Walking Dead, a role that cemented his reputation for volatile, morally grey characters. He has also voiced Beast and the Magic Mirror in The Wolf Among Us, and multiple champions in League of Legends.
