Julie Nathanson voice actor profile
Birth Date: 10/05/1975

A classically trained vocalist with a Master's in Clinical Psychology, Julie Nathanson built a career spanning soap operas, anime dubbing and video games. Best known for voicing Belle in Disney's Kingdom Hearts series, Samantha Maxis in Call of Duty and Baal Zebul in Bayonetta 3, she also writes for animation and consults on voice direction for major studios and developers.

Julie Nathanson’s Path From Soap Operas to Animated Icons

Growing up in the Philadelphia suburb of Bala Cynwyd, she attended Friends’ Central School before earning a degree at Tufts University, having trained classically at the Bryn Mawr Conservatory of Music. A soap opera stint launched her on-camera career in 1996, with a recurring role as Amy on One Life to Live, followed by turns on Beverly Hills, 90210 and Another World. Television movies like Kiss & Tell and Soldier of Fortune, Inc. kept her in front of the camera until a lead role as Rosalie “Ro” Rowan in The Zeta Project pointed her toward the booth instead.

Belle and the Kingdom Hearts Years

Since 2011’s Kinect: Disneyland Adventures, she has carried the role of Belle across games and television, succeeding original film voice Paige O’Hara and extending the princess into Sofia the First and the Kingdom Hearts series, where the character remains one of her most consistent assignments.

Samantha Maxis and the Marvel Years

Her longest tenure belongs to Call of Duty’s zombies storyline, where she has voiced Samantha Maxis from World at War through Black Ops Cold War, even lending her trained voice to the track “Lost.” Marvel projects followed with Yelena Belova in Avengers Assemble and Crimson Widow in Marvel’s Avengers, while Silver Banshee and Jewelee gave her a foothold in DC’s Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay.

Bayonetta, Starfield and a Milestone 100th Credit

Baal Zebul in 2022’s Bayonetta 3 showcased an operatic register rarely asked of her elsewhere, and that same stretch of years brought Marika Boros in Starfield and Kleia in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands. League of Legends’ Briar arrived in 2023 as her 100th video game role, with Helldiver Voice 3 in Helldivers 2 following in 2024.

Anime Work and What Came Next

Japanese animation dubbing has kept her steady too, with parts in Great Pretender, Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture, Terminator Zero, T・P BON, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX and Disney Twisted-Wonderland: The Animation. 2025 alone added The Outer Worlds 2, Dune: Awakening and Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut to her credits. Away from performing, she spent three seasons writing for NBC’s Just Deal, earning a Writers Guild Award nomination for the episode “Have Your Cake,” and later applied a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Phillips Graduate Institute to dialogue work and voice direction consulting.
