Erika Harlacher’s Path from Production Intern to Voice Acting Staple

The road into voice acting was anything but direct for Erika Harlacher. Growing up in Camarillo, California, she arrived at Cal Poly Pomona intending to study graphic design. A chance encounter at Anime Expo changed everything – an Adventures in Voice Acting workshop run by Tony Oliver convinced her to switch her major to theatre. She completed a production internship at Bang Zoom! Entertainment, sitting in on recording sessions before landing her first credited role as Keiko Ida in the English dub of K-On!

Hunter x Hunter and the Kurapika Breakthrough

Early credits in Toradora!, Kill la Kill, and the Danganronpa game series steadily built her profile, but the 2016 Viz Media dub of Hunter x Hunter marked a shift in scale. Taking on Kurapika – one of the franchise’s most emotionally charged leads – put Harlacher in front of a massive Toonami audience and demonstrated her range on male characters with real dramatic weight. That same period saw her voice Princess Asseylum in Aldnoah.Zero and Elizabeth Liones in The Seven Deadly Sins, both Netflix dub releases that widened her international reach.

Persona 5, Violet Evergarden, and Back-to-Back Title Roles

2017 brought Ann Takamaki in Atlus’s Persona 5 – a role she would reprise across spin-offs, Royal, Strikers, Tactica, and even Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Then 2018 stacked two Netflix-streamed lead roles in a single year: the stoic, amnesiac Violet in Violet Evergarden and the borderline unhinged Yumeko Jabami in Kakegurui. Gaming Credits and the Genshin Impact Chapter

Beyond anime dubbing, Harlacher has built an equally dense record in games. She voiced Venti in Genshin Impact, Shinobu Kocho in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Kaede Akamatsu in Danganronpa V3, and Juna Crawford across The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III and IV.
