Bass

Animation:Bass X Machina (2026) (TV Show)

Out in the lawless Steampunk West, few figures cut as imposing a silhouette as Bass Reeves. Reimagined from the legendary real-life Deputy U.S. Marshal, this version of Bass operates as a bounty hunter with a mechanical arm, navigating a frontier overrun by homicidal outlaws, enormous war machines, and horrors that defy natural explanation.

Bass Reeves’ Story Role in Bass X Machina

At its core, Bass X Machina is not just a genre spectacle; it’s the story of a father pushed to the absolute edge. Bass must serve as judge, jury, and executioner in a world where the law has completely collapsed, all while trying to shield the family he fights so hard for. The brutal irony of his situation runs deep: the very violence he unleashes to protect his loved ones constantly risks becoming the thing that destroys them. Cool-headed and slick under pressure, Bass is no simple hero; the series frames him as a morally complex antihero where survival is the only honest guiding principle. LeSean Thomas, the creator behind Yasuke, grounds this pulpy steampunk premise with genuine human stakes, and Studio Mir’s kinetic animation keeps every encounter feeling visceral and urgent.

Who Voices Bass in Bass X Machina?

Oscar, Emmy, and Tony Award nominee Brian Tyree Henry brings Bass Reeves to life with a performance that matches the character’s cool authority. Best known for his groundbreaking work as Alfred Miles in Atlanta and as Jefferson Davis across the Spider-Verse films, Henry also serves as executive producer on Bass X Machina, signaling just how personally invested he is in telling this story. His voice carries the quiet weight of a man who has seen too much yet keeps moving anyway, which fits Bass perfectly.
