Elwood’s Role in Minions & Monsters

Elwood and Frank sit atop the studio where director Max is trying to make his mark in silent film. When the Minions accidentally hijack a train-robbery scene meant for one of Max’s pictures, the twins don’t see a ruined shoot. They see box office gold, and Elwood pushes Max to sign the creatures on as the studio’s newest stars. That decision turns the Minions into overnight sensations, at least until sound pictures arrive and their nonsense language goes from selling point to liability. Critics have called out the Bright brothers as a broad, cheerfully cynical dig at the greedy studio-boss archetype of the era.

Who Voices Elwood in Minions & Monsters?

Jeff Bridges voices both Frank and Elwood, giving each twin his own comic rhythm despite sharing a face. Bridges won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in Crazy Heart, and animation audiences may also know his voice work from The Last Unicorn and The Little Prince. In the Japanese dub, Ginga Banjou plays both Bright brothers, returning to the franchise after a small role in 2015’s Minions. Banjou is best known in Japan for voicing Gihren Zabi in Mobile Suit Gundam and Souther in Fist of the North Star.
