Yanfei

Video Game: Genshin Impact

Liyue Harbor has no shortage of brilliant minds, but none carry quite the same reputation as its walking, talking legal codex. Yanfei, a half-adeptus and half-human Pyro character in Genshin Impact, carved out a name for herself as the city's most sought-after legal adviser, so sharp and precise that locals simply call her "the law that walks."

Yanfei’s Personality and Story Role

There is something genuinely refreshing about a character who treats law not as a cage, but as the key to freedom. Born of a human mother and an adeptus father linked to justice itself, Yanfei absorbed a deep reverence for the legal codes of Liyue, yet her philosophy cuts right to the bone: “If you don’t wish to be bound by the rules, you have to first understand them all.” Unlike older adepti such as Ganyu, who carry centuries of wartime grief, Yanfei grew up in a more peaceful era, and it shows in her warmth and sociable nature. She is known to be a chatterbox, someone whose legal mind runs so relentlessly that a single offhand comment from the Traveler once kept her up the entire night overanalyzing its implications. On the battlefield, she channels Pyro through a Scarlet Seal mechanic, building up fiery charges with every fireball before unleashing devastating Charged Attacks.

Who Voices Yanfei in Genshin Impact?

Lizzie Freeman brings Yanfei to life in the English version, lending the character a bright, quick-witted energy that suits a legal prodigy perfectly. Freeman is widely recognized for voicing Pomni in The Amazing Digital Circus and Chisato Nishikigi in Lycoris Recoil, two roles that showcase her impressive range. In the Japanese version, Yumiri Hanamori takes on the role, a voice actress perhaps best known to anime audiences for her work as Shizue Izawa in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime.
