Born in Ginowan, Okinawa on July 28, 1988, Shugo Nakamura trained at R&A Voice Actors Academy before joining Across Entertainment in 2014. He made his debut in 2015 at age 26. Best known for voicing Teru Tendo in The Idolmaster SideM, Ryota Miyagi in THE FIRST SLAM DUNK, and Gin Gagamaru in Blue Lock, he won the 13th Voice Acting Awards Best New Actor prize in 2019. He is also an active solo music artist under Lantis.

Starting his career at 26 – later than most in the industry – Shugo Nakamura built a career defined by memorable lead roles across anime, games, and music. Blue Lock and THE FIRST SLAM DUNK

Two of his highest-profile recent roles come from sports anime. In Blue Lock, he voices the goalkeeper Gin Gagamaru across multiple seasons and spin-off episodes running from 2022 to 2024. His portrayal of Ryota Miyagi in the theatrical film THE FIRST SLAM DUNK brought him particular attention, as the film became a major box office success and one of the most praised sports anime films in years.

Nakamura launched his solo music career under his own name in October 2019, signing with Lantis. He released his 5th anniversary album carVe in October 2024, and a 9th single was announced for release in 2025.
