Shiori Matsuda

Shiori Matsuda’s Path Through Anime, Games, and Global Dubbing
Out of Sapporo, Hokkaido, seiyuu Shiori Matsuda (まつだ 志緒理) has spent nearly two decades building a career defined by careful character work rather than headline-grabbing leads. Born on May 20, 1984, she entered the Japanese voice acting industry in the mid-2000s and steadily accumulated credits across anime television series, animated films, and video games. Her work tends toward supporting and recurring roles – the kind that hold a story together without commanding the poster – and across that range she has demonstrated a reliable ability to adapt her voice to dramatically different character types.
Anime Credits Across Genres
Matsuda’s anime television work spans an unusually broad tonal spectrum. Among her notable recurring roles, she voiced Guy Cecil as a young boy in the Tales of the Abyss anime adaptation (2008-2009), a technically demanding young male performance that appeared across multiple episodes. In the 2012 historical comedy The Ambition of Oda Nobuna, she took on Omaki no Kata, a supporting figure in that series’ gender-swapped reimagining of Japan’s Sengoku period. She later voiced Kasane’s Mother in the 2021 Sunrise series Scarlet Nexus, expanding her presence into newer anime titles. Her episodic appearances across the landscape are wide-ranging: Corpse Princess, Chaos;HEAd, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Gangsta., God Eater, Tokyo Ravens, Rage of Bahamut: Virgin Soul, and detective franchise stalwart Case Closed all carry her name in their cast lists.
Video Game Work and the Resident Evil Series
On the games side, Matsuda’s most high-profile credit is Sherry Birkin in Biohazard Revelations 2 (known internationally as Resident Evil: Revelations 2, 2015). Sherry is a character with deep franchise history – a survivor first introduced in Resident Evil 2 who reappears in Revelations 2 as a government agent, carrying significant emotional weight and action-forward dialogue. Matsuda returned to the Resident Evil universe for the “End of Zoe” DLC of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard (2017). Her games credits also include Harumi Kamiya in the adventure title Time Travelers, Madison Wright in Life is Strange 2 (Japanese dub), and Yui Matsunami in Star Horse Pocket.
Dubbing and Animated Film Work
Matsuda’s work extends into localization dubbing for major international animated productions. She voiced Bridget in the Japanese dub of DreamWorks’ Trolls (2016) and reprised the role in Trolls Band Together – a continuous multi-film commitment that speaks to the trust productions place in her consistency. She has also appeared in Japanese dub productions for major Hollywood live-action films, including Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Transformers: Age of Extinction. Among animated features, her credits include A Letter to Momo, Stand By Me Doraemon, Doraemon the Movie: Nobita and the Space Heroes, and The Angry Birds Movie (Japanese dub, as Olive).
