Liv Hewson

Liv Hewson’s Path From Canberra to Hollywood
Growing up in the Canberra suburb of Hughes, Hewson found an early creative outlet through the Canberra Youth Theatre, where their play Bona Mors debuted in 2013. That grounding in writing carried into a screen career that began with small television roles before a lead part in the web series Dramaworld brought wider attention in 2016.
Santa Clarita Diet and Yellowjackets
A breakout arrived with Abby Hammond, the teenager navigating her mother’s transformation into a flesh-eating creature on Netflix’s Santa Clarita Diet, a role Hewson held across the show’s three seasons. Since 2021, they have played the teenage version of Van Palmer on Showtime’s Yellowjackets, layering a guarded resilience into a character shaped by trauma and survival. Film credits during this period include Before I Fall, Bombshell and Let It Snow.
Voice Work: Scarygirl and Among Us
Animation opened a new chapter with Bug Eye in the film Scarygirl, followed by a lead role voicing Black, a disillusioned geologist, in the CBS Studios and Titmouse adaptation of Among Us for Paramount+. Working opposite Kimiko Glenn’s Cyan, Hewson brought a dry, weary humor to the character’s running rivalry over rock classification.
Advocacy and Public Life
Off screen, Hewson has spoken openly about coming out as non-binary at 16 and using they/them pronouns throughout their public life. The Human Rights Campaign honored their advocacy with a Visibility Award in 2020, recognition that followed years of pushing back against rigid, gendered awards categories in the industry.
