That restless creative energy – first channeled through his 2013 channel “Scary Story Time With Liam” – laid the foundation for a career that refuses to separate storytelling from performance. Vickers has never simply voiced a character; he has built the world around it first.

CliffSide and the Breakthrough of 2018

Released on May 20, 2018, CliffSide announced Vickers as a serious force in indie animation. Writing, directing, animating, and voicing the character Waylon entirely on his own, the western-flavored monster-town pilot pulled over 10 million views and earned genuine enthusiasm from the growing YouTube animation community. It was a one-man production built at USC, where Vickers graduated with a degree in Animation and Digital Art, and it set the tone for everything that followed – work that carries an unmistakable personal fingerprint in every frame and every vocal performance.

Murder Drones and a New Standard for Independent Animation

When the Murder Drones pilot dropped on October 29, 2021 – produced by Glitch Productions and funded by Screen Australia – it announced something different: a fully realized CGI sci-fi horror-comedy that looked like nothing else on the platform. Vickers served as showrunner, storyboard artist, and voice actor across the series, lending his voice to Teacher, Riley, and Trevor. The show wrapped its run on August 23, 2024, with the entire season later arriving on Amazon Prime Video in May 2025. Its mix of sharp dark humor and genuine emotional stakes earned Webby Award recognition and made Vickers the first non-Australian showrunner to produce a series for Glitch Productions.

The Creator-Performer Identity

What sets Vickers apart in the indie animation space is the refusal to delegate his own voice out of the work. Across Internecion Cube – where he voiced Agent #2 and Mr. Fischer – through to Murder Drones, the characters he plays are ones he designed, scripted, and directed. That level of authorship over a performance produces something audiences notice even when they cannot name it: specificity. His instincts as a writer directly shape how he delivers a line, and his experience at studios including Netflix Animation, Warner Bros. Animation, and DreamWorks Animation has sharpened that craft considerably without flattening it into formula.
