Erica Luttrell

Erica Luttrell’s Journey from Child Performer to Genre Powerhouse
Toronto born and raised, Luttrell stepped in front of cameras at age two for Pampers and Cadillac commercials, then landed her first series lead at nine as Kara Cupper on the PBS staple Shining Time Station. That early exposure to a working set, filmed alongside segments of Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends, gave her a foundation few child actors get to build on. A move to Los Angeles as a teenager opened the door to a career that would eventually span live-action drama, animation, and interactive entertainment.
The Magic School Bus and Keesha Franklin
Cast opposite Lily Tomlin’s Ms. Frizzle, Luttrell voiced the inquisitive Keesha Franklin across the run of The Magic School Bus from 1994 to 1997, one of the defining educational cartoons of the decade. The role introduced her to a generation of PBS viewers and marked her transition from live-action child star to voice performer, a shift that would define the next three decades of her career.
Steven Universe and the Sapphire Legacy
Luttrell’s calm, measured take on Sapphire in Cartoon Network’s Steven Universe became one of her signature roles, extending through Steven Universe Future and reflecting a gem whose precognition shapes much of the show’s mythology. Fused with Ruby, Sapphire forms Garnet, and Luttrell’s restrained line readings gave the character’s romance with Ruby its emotional weight. She also voiced the smaller role of Padparadscha within the same universe.
Dishonored, Apex Legends, and the Gaming World
Interactive media has occupied a large part of her catalog. She played Empress Emily Kaldwin in Dishonored 2, Cheetah in Injustice 2, and Bangalore in Apex Legends, a squad-based shooter that has kept her voice active with players since 2019. Additional game credits include Sagira in Destiny 2’s Curse of Osiris expansion, Shuri in Marvel’s Avengers, Zo in Horizon Forbidden West, Ms. Folia in Final Fantasy VII Remake, and Anne Petriceani in Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness. In 2025 she voiced Agent Mills in Battlefield 6, and she returned to the Marvel universe again in 2026 as Shuri in MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls.
Screen Work and Continuing Animation Roles
Alongside voice work, Luttrell has held recurring and guest roles in live-action series including Westworld, Salvation, Lost Girl, Mayans M.C., 9-1-1, and David Makes Man. Her animation slate has continued to grow with Esther in Netflix’s Castlevania: Nocturne, Acxa in Voltron: Legendary Defender, and Agent Two in Helluva Boss, alongside earlier work like Candy in Dave the Barbarian. Married to Jessica Mallers since 2019, she remains based in Los Angeles while continuing to book across both animation and gaming.
