Elizabeth Ludlow’s Rise Through Genre Television

Pittsburgh native Elizabeth Ludlow took an unusual path into acting. Growing up as a competitive soccer player, she didn’t pursue performance until studying at Georgia State University, where a theater degree and campus improv troupe redirected her ambitions entirely. Her screen debut came in 2013 with a small role on The Vampire Diaries, followed by appearances on Resurrection and the USA Network drama Satisfaction, where she played Mona across six episodes.

The Walking Dead and Arat’s Ruthless Authority

Ludlow’s breakout arrived in 2016 when she joined The Walking Dead as Arat, one of Negan’s most feared lieutenants among the Saviors. Across seasons 7 through 9 of AMC’s flagship zombie drama, Arat became a fan-debated figure whose shifting loyalties kept audiences guessing. The role earned Ludlow a promotion to series regular ahead of Season 9 and established her as a recognizable face in genre television.

Blockbuster Credits and Sci-Fi Stardom

Between Walking Dead seasons, Ludlow built a steady film resume. She appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in 2017 and took on the role of First Lieutenant Griffin in Godzilla: King of the Monsters in 2019. That same year, Netflix cast her as Cas Isakovic in the sci-fi series Another Life alongside Katee Sackhoff. The show ran for two seasons before its cancellation in 2021, but Ludlow’s physically demanding performance as a crew member aboard an alien-contact mission showed her range beyond earthbound thrillers.

Peacemaker and the DC Universe

James Gunn brought Ludlow into the DC Universe with Peacemaker in 2022, casting her as Keeya Adebayo, the wife of Danielle Brooks’ Leota Adebayo. The role carried through both seasons of the HBO Max series, with Ludlow returning for Season 2 in 2025. She also portrayed LGBTQ+ civil rights icon Storme DeLarverie in the HBO Max docuseries Equal in 2020, a project that held personal significance for her as an openly gay actress.

Gears of War: E-Day and Mags Carter

Elizabeth Ludlow performs motion capture and voice work for Mags Carter, one of four playable characters in Bravo Squad alongside Marcus Fenix, Dom Santiago, and Lucas Reyes. The Coalition Studio announced Mags as a former Gear now working at Kalona’s Imulsion Refinery. Set 14 years before Gears of War 1 during Emergence Day, the game features 4-player co-op with all four characters using Unreal Engine 5, released October 6, 2026.
