Dean Scofield

Dean Scofield
Dean Scofield is an American actor and voice actor from Alhambra, California, best known for voicing Johnny Sasaki in Konami's Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. With a career spanning television, film dubbing, and video games, Scofield remains a familiar name to Metal Gear fans worldwide.

His most recognized role is Johnny Sasaki, which he reprised in Metal Gear SolidMetal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes (2004), and Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. Interestingly, he was originally credited under the pseudonym “Dino Schofield” in the first Metal Gear Solid because he was concerned the union would not support voice work on a video game at the time. Beyond that franchise, he also voiced Genome Soldiers and contributed dubbing work on several films, including Fist of Legend (1994) and Iron Monkey 2 (1996).

On-Screen & Other Work

Outside of voice acting, Scofield has an on-screen acting career spanning decades. He appeared in Archie Bunker’s Place as Fred Rooney, Veronica’s nephew and a gay waiter — a notably progressive recurring role for early 1980s television. More recently, he appeared in Give ‘Em Hell Honey! (2024) and had a role in Weird City (2019). He has also worked as a casting director, with credits including ADR loop group work on films like The Cooler (2003).
