Ben Balmaceda

Ben Balmaceda’s Rise in Anime and Game Dubbing
London, 1993. A future voice actor entered the world far from the anime studios and game booths that would define his career. Ben Balmaceda grew up bilingual, splitting his identity between British birth and Chilean heritage, and by 2014 he had turned that voice into a profession. Early credits sat mostly in the background: walla lines, minor roles, the unglamorous groundwork most dub actors build a resume on. Texas served as his home base for years before a 2023 move to Los Angeles put him closer to the center of English-language anime production.
Genshin Impact and the Voice of Kaveh
Kaveh, the architect from Sumeru in Genshin Impact, gave Balmaceda his widest audience. The character’s mix of charm and burnout struck a chord with players, and the role became one of his defining credits. He has stayed visibly connected to the part, marking the character’s in-game birthday alongside the fanbase. His video game resume also includes Martin S. Robinson in The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel – Northern War and Corbin in Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection.
Anime Leads From Neku to Hiromi Higuruma
On the animation side, Balmaceda built a run of named roles rather than a single breakout part. He voiced Neku Sakuraba in The World Ends With You: The Animation, Raido in Aharen-san wa Hakarenai, and Jiro Yakuin in More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers. He took on Hanamichi Sakuragi in The First Slam Dunk and Shiki in Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy-. In early 2026 he stepped into Jujutsu Kaisen as Hiromi Higuruma, a part he spoke about publicly given the character’s dedicated following. Andy in Undead Unluck and Saber in the upcoming Fate/strange Fake dub round out a list spanning studios including Funimation, Crunchyroll, Bang Zoom!, Kocha Sound, and Studio Nano.
Work Behind the Booth
Balmaceda’s credits extend past performing. He has taken on directing duties for titles including Kemono Jihen, A Place Further Than the Universe, and Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, putting him on both sides of the script. His earlier years in the industry included smaller jobs in indie games and student films alongside background dialogue work that built toward larger roles. That mix of directing and acting now shapes how he approaches a session, treating each new script as another character to build from the ground up.
