Cambridge-educated and Bristol Old Vic-trained, Antonia Bernath brought an unusual academic rigor to the voice booth when she stepped into video game work. After carving her screen career through Downton Abbey, The Astronaut Wives Club, and the Emmy-nominated CBS miniseries Elvis – where she played Priscilla Presley – the Westminster-born actress found a second creative identity in games, one that would define how an entire generation of players experienced two landmark titles.

Control and the Making of Emily Pope

When Remedy Entertainment released Control in 2019, Emily Pope emerged as one of gaming’s most memorably written supporting characters – a Federal Bureau of Control research specialist whose mix of dry wit and genuine warmth anchored the player’s understanding of the Bureau’s labyrinthine world. Bernath performed both voice and motion capture, meaning every shrug, every frantic gesture belonged to her. The role stretched through both DLC expansions – The Foundation and AWE in 2020 – and she is set to reprise Emily Pope in the upcoming Control Resonant (2026), cementing a character now spanning nearly a decade.

Sierra Knox, Syanna, and a Decade Across AAA Franchises

The Control work didn’t arrive in isolation. Bernath first entered games with additional voice contributions to Star Wars: Battlefront (2015) and Battlefront II (2017), then voiced Syanna – the pivotal antagonist-turned-ally of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s Blood and Wine expansion (2016). In Hitman 2 (2018), she gave voice to Sierra Knox, a sharp-tongued Formula racing driver and one of the game’s most theatrically written targets. The role required projecting arrogance cut with believable vulnerability – a register Bernath hit without a false note. Evil West (2022) added Emilia Blackwell to the list, a field researcher whose intelligence drives much of the game’s plot momentum.

Between Stage, Screen, and the Booth

Parallel to her games work, Bernath continued building a distinctive television resume. Her 2023 return in the ITVX miniseries Nolly – playing Jane Rossington alongside Helena Bonham Carter – drew strong notices. In 2025 she appeared in the period thriller The War Between the Land and the Sea for BBC and took a role in the film Betty. Death in Paradise followed in 2026. The stage, the screen, and the recording booth have run simultaneously throughout her career – each informing the precision she brings to the others.
