Alex Cazares

Alex Cazares and the Role That Changed Everything
When Cyberpunk: Edgerunners arrived on Netflix in September 2022, one character cut through the noise louder than almost any other: Rebecca, the ferocious, pint-sized mercenary whose loyalty burned hotter than her firepower. The English dub cast Alex Cazares in the role, and the performance landed with an intensity that felt completely earned. Sharp, chaotic, and emotionally raw when it counted, Cazares brought a physical energy to Rebecca that pushed past the page. The anime community responded, and Cazares stepped into a much wider spotlight almost overnight.
Roots in Animation, a Career Built on Range
Growing up in San Diego County, California, Cazares knew early that cartoons were her world. At Loyola Marymount University, she studied animation and crossed paths with Van Partible, creator of Johnny Bravo, who pushed her toward voice work. A pivotal class with actress Debi Derryberry sealed the direction. Before microphones became her primary tool, she worked as a storyboard artist – a background that trained her eye for character physicality long before she was performing it aloud. Her professional debut came in 2015 voicing Lily in the English dub of Glitter Force at Studiopolis, the Los Angeles studio she has called home ever since.
Carl Casagrande, the Loud House Franchise, and Children’s Animation
Parallel to her anime work, Cazares built an equally strong footprint in children’s television. Her recurring turn as Carl Casagrande in The Loud House and its spin-off The Casagrandes gave her a fan base outside the anime dubbing world entirely. Carl is mischievous, ambitious, and perpetually in over his head – a role that put Cazares’s cross-gender casting instincts to good use. The character carried through to The Casagrandes Movie in 2024, and she returned to the Loud House universe in No Time to Spy: A Loud House Movie the same year, this time voicing Myrtle Reynolds.
Games, Anime, and the Reach of Studiopolis
The credits stacked steadily across formats. In video games, Cazares voiced Rose and Rosalynn Jeffries in Fallout 76, Lulu across multiple WarioWare titles, and Dagr in Fire Emblem Heroes. On the anime side, her work spans Naruto: Shippuden, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Rent-A-Girlfriend, Digimon Adventure:, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Osomatsu-san. Each project reinforced what Cazares does best: land characters with edge, wit, or unpredictability – often all three at once.
