Abraham Dawson

Abraham Dawson’s Role in Banana Fish
Younger brother to researcher Alexis Dawson, Abraham co-discovered the Banana Fish compound during medical school but broke with his brother the moment Alexis urged its destruction. Where Alexis saw danger, Abraham saw profit. He hoarded a hidden sample, refined the drug over years, and used military deployment as cover to test it on live subjects, a decision that left Griffin permanently damaged and set the entire narrative of the series into motion. Despite the scale of the harm he caused, he is ultimately a coward: when cornered by Ash late in the series, he begs for his life rather than face any reckoning. His death, delivered not by Ash but by Yut-Lung, is as ignoble as the man himself.
Who Voices Abraham Dawson in Banana Fish?
In the 2018 MAPPA anime, Abraham Dawson is voiced in Japanese by Yu Hayashi, a versatile voice actor widely recognized for bringing Ryunosuke Tanaka to life in Haikyuu!! and for voicing Manjiro Sano in Tokyo Revengers. Hayashi channels Abraham’s sycophantic menace and sudden cowardice with the same control that has made him one of the more distinctive voices working in anime today.
