Zuko

From banished prince to Fire Lord, Zuko's path is one of animation's most compelling transformations, and in The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender, audiences will meet him fully grown, navigating the weight of a crown he once would have done anything to deserve. Set many years after the fall of Fire Lord Ozai, the film picks up with an older Zuko stepping into a world still healing from a century of war.

Zuko’s Role and Character

Few characters in animation carry the burden of legacy as visibly as Zuko does. The scar across his eye is not just a mark of his father’s cruelty; it became a symbol of everything he had to unlearn about power, honor, and what it truly means to choose the right path. His redemption arc in the original series redefined what animated storytelling could accomplish emotionally, turning an antagonist into a figure of profound moral courage. With the film set in his adult years as Fire Lord, Zuko brings the hard-won wisdom of that journey to a new chapter, where the challenge is no longer survival but stewardship.

Who Voices Zuko in The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender?

Steven Yeun steps into the role of Zuko, officially confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con 2025 by series creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. Yeun is no stranger to animated complexity, having voiced Mark Grayson, the conflicted teenage superhero at the center of Amazon’s Invincible, a role that required the same balance of vulnerability and intensity that defines Zuko. He also previously voiced Wan, the first Avatar, in The Legend of Korra, making this a genuine homecoming to the Avatar universe. Konietzko noted at SDCC: “We loved working with him and we’re excited to have him back.”
