Micah Solusod

Micah Solusod voice actor profile
Birth Date: 21/08/1990

Honolulu-born and Texas-trained, Micah Solusod is an American voice actor and freelance illustrator of Japanese and Filipino descent who made his anime debut in 2008. After relocating to Texas to pursue dubbing work, he built an extensive Funimation filmography spanning action, sports, and supernatural genres. Best known for Soul Evans in Soul Eater, Toma Kamijo in A Certain Magical Index, and Yukine in Noragami. Married to fellow voice actress Apphia Yu since 2016.

Micah Solusod’s Path from Honolulu to Funimation’s Frontlines

Hawaii is not typically where anime dubbing careers begin – yet for Micah Solusod, the islands were the starting point of a journey that eventually took him to Texas and straight into Funimation’s recording booths. Of Japanese and Filipino descent, Solusod made his debut in 2008 with a minor role in Blassreiter. What followed was a rapid rise through one of the most competitive pools of English-language voice talent in the industry.

Soul Eater and the Role That Defined a Generation

Landing the lead in Soul Eater was the turning point. As Soul Evans, Solusod brought a cool, razor-edged delivery to a character that sat at the heart of a series broadcast on Adult Swim’s Toonami block – one of the most high-traffic platforms anime could reach in North America at the time. The performance made an immediate impression, though it came with an odd footnote: before the official dub cast announcement, enough fans mistook his voice for Johnny Yong Bosch’s that the misattribution circulated widely online. The two share a remarkably close vocal range, though Solusod’s tone sits in a slightly lower register.

A Certain Magical Index, Seraph of the End, and Expanding the Range

Following Soul Eater, Solusod cemented himself across multiple long-running franchises. As Toma Kamijo in A Certain Magical Index and A Certain Scientific Railgun, he anchored a sprawling supernatural action series across multiple seasons. Yuichiro Hyakuya in Seraph of the End demanded a harder, more desperate energy – a shift he handled without losing the youthful urgency that had become a hallmark. Alongside those, credits in Noragami as Yukine, Yuri on Ice as Yuri Plisetsky, and Yuno in Black Clover widened the emotional register considerably.

Beyond the Booth – Art, Comics, and a Creative Double Life

Few working voice actors maintain as active a parallel creative output. Solusod is a freelance illustrator with a longstanding DeviantArt presence and an original webcomic series called Ties That Bind. From around 2019 onward, his dubbing output slowed – a combination of shifting priorities and health concerns during the COVID-19 pandemic. He has continued voicing reprised roles remotely from a home studio, and more recent credits include Shu Ishido in the Ultraman Arc English dub, produced by Okratron 5000.
