The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (2026)

Release Date: Nov 5, 2026
Developer: Nintendo EPD

Nintendo’s ground-up Switch 2 remake arrives twenty-eight years after Ocarina of Time redefined what a game could be and its most divisive addition is also its most significant. For the first time in the game’s history, the characters of Hyrule speak. Zelda, Saria, Ganondorf, Impa, Darunia, and Princess Ruto now deliver voiced cutscenes, while Link stays silent. The Ocarina of Time voice cast includes two confirmed returning performers from the modern Zelda series, with Nintendo declining to announce the full lineup ahead of the November 5 launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2.

A Twenty-Eight-Year Silence, Finally Broken

Few games carry the weight of player memory that Ocarina of Time does. When Nintendo announced the remake, the addition of a jump button and a free camera were expected; fully voiced cutscenes were not. Director Eiji Aonuma confirmed that major characters will speak through in-game cutscenes, taking the same approach used in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. The rebuilt environments run on new hardware and feature orchestral audio, but voice acting is the structural change that touches every narrative scene in the game.

The Two Confirmed Names Behind Hyrule’s New Voice

The Ocarina of Time 2026 voice cast has two publicly confirmed performers. Matthew Mercer reprises Ganondorf, the role he first took on in Tears of the Kingdom, and his casting signals continuity with the modern Zelda sound rather than a nostalgia-first approach. Mercer, also known as Critical Role’s Dungeon Master and as Leon S. Kennedy in the Resident Evil 2 remake, brings the same quiet authority to Ganondorf’s confrontations that he brought to TotK’s far more talkative version. Patricia Summersett returns as Princess Zelda, having voiced the character across Breath of the Wild, Age of Calamity, Tears of the Kingdom, and Age of Imprisonment. Summersett built a Zelda defined by measured intelligence rather than distress, and the younger Ocarina version gives her a markedly different emotional register to work in.

The Rest of the Cast Is Still Arriving

Beyond those two, Nintendo has not officially announced the remaining Ocarina of Time voice actors as of the November launch. Saria, Navi, Impa, Darunia, Princess Ruto, and Malon are all heard in the trailers, and the character pages linked in the table below will be updated as credits are confirmed. Whether you are returning to Hyrule after nearly three decades or stepping into the story for the first time, the table below tracks every confirmed voice actor alongside their character’s full role in the story.
