Woodes Rogers

Order and iron will follow wherever Woodes Rogers sails. As one of the central antagonists in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, this scarred English privateer turned royal governor stands between Edward Kenway and the pirate freedom of Nassau, arriving with a navy at his back and a king's pardon in hand.

Woodes Rogers’s Role and Personality

Rogers is a man who prefers surrender over slaughter, yet that restraint masks something far colder underneath. As the first Royal Governor of the Bahamas and a covert member of the West Indies Templar Order, his true aim reaches well beyond cleaning up piracy. He wants control, and he pursues it with the patience of someone who has already made the long voyage twice. That ugly scar cutting across his cheek tells its own story. Earned during a brutal naval engagement and never forgotten, it is as much a part of him as the divide-and-conquer tactics he used to gut pirate networks from Madagascar to the Caribbean. The fracture lines run deeper still: expelled from the Templars for his involvement in the slave trade, bankrupted, and ultimately broken by his own ambitions, Rogers ends up a cautionary emblem of what unchecked order without conscience produces.

Who Voices Woodes Rogers in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced?

British actor Shaun Dingwall voices Woodes Rogers, reprising the role he originated in the 2013 original as part of the returning cast for Resynced. Dingwall is perhaps best known on screen for his television work, including his recurring role as Pete Tyler, the Doctor’s father-in-law, across multiple episodes of the BBC’s Doctor Who. He also appeared as Fergus Cousland in BioWare’s Dragon Age: Origins, bringing the same measured authority to that performance that defines his take on Rogers.
