Conrad Pla’s Path From the Ring to the Recording Booth

Before any game character carried his voice, Conrad Pla was a fighter. Born in Madrid and raised in Montreal from the age of three, he competed in kickboxing for fourteen years, reaching a world ranking of third in the light heavyweight division, winning the ISKA North American Championship and the WKA Intercontinental Championship, and co-founding Tristar Gym in Montreal in 1991 – a facility that would become one of North America’s most respected combat sports training centres. A career-ending injury in the late 1990s closed that chapter and opened another: screen acting, and eventually, game voiceover.

Assassin’s Creed and the Ubisoft Connection

Pla’s entry into video game work came through Ubisoft’s flagship historical franchise. In Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation (2012), he voiced Diego Vazquez, a Spanish Templar operative embedded in colonial New Orleans. The following year, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag cast him as Governor Laureano de Torres y Ayala, Grand Master of the Caribbean Templar Order and the game’s principal antagonist – a role that put his voice at the centre of one of the franchise’s most commercially successful entries. He later returned to Ubisoft for Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR, contributing motion capture work to the 2023 virtual reality installment.

Jackal in Rainbow Six Siege

In 2017, Ubisoft introduced Jackal – codenamed Ryad Ramah – as a Counter Terrorism Unit operator from Spain in the Operation Velvet Shell expansion for Rainbow Six Siege. Pla voiced and performed the character, bringing a background in Spanish language and culture that matched the operator’s profile. Jackal’s tracker ability made him one of the expansion’s defining additions, and Pla’s performance gave the character a distinct tactical authority that players responded to across competitive and casual modes.

Far Cry 6 and Carlos Montero

Rounding out his Ubisoft work, Pla appeared in Far Cry 6 (2021) as Carlos Montero, leader of the Montero Farm resistance group on the fictional island of Yara. The role placed him alongside a cast anchored by Giancarlo Esposito, and Montero’s arc – grounded in family loyalty and guerrilla resistance – gave Pla substantive dramatic material within the game’s larger ensemble structure.
