Jiro Azuma

A childhood spent talking to stray dogs and alley cats didn't win Jiro Azuma many friends growing up, but it put him on a collision course with a war nobody at his school could imagine. Raised under his grandfather Toshimasa's brutal shinobi training, the rough looking teenager soon learns his family's ninja bloodline is only the start of what makes him dangerous.

Jiro Azuma’s Story and Abilities

Everything changes when Jiro finds a wounded black cat in the forest and, true to form, stops to help it. That cat turns out to be Rago, an ancient mononoke known as the Black Star of Doom, hunted by other spirits eager to claim his power. When Jiro is fatally wounded protecting him, Rago fuses with his body to save his life, granting him devastating combat abilities while quietly draining his vitality in the process. His clan already gave him unusual athleticism and the instant ability to understand animals, but bonding with Rago pulls him into the Bureau of Espionage’s hidden fight against mononoke, alongside teammates Ichika Kishimojin and Reiji Kirihara on the newly formed Black Torch squad.

The English dub features A.J. Beckles, familiar to Crunchyroll viewers as Okarun in Dan Da Dan and Takemichi Hanagaki in Tokyo Revengers, stepping into the role for the same day simulcast release.
