Kurou

Kuro’s Role and Personality in Sekiro: No Defeat
Small in stature but immovable in spirit, Kuro projects a quiet authority that seems almost impossible for someone his age. He was raised as the adoptive son of Ashina’s minister Hirata, and something of that sheltered upbringing shines through in his gentle, thoughtful manner. Yet there is real steel underneath. When Genichiro Ashina seizes him at the opening of the story to exploit his power for the clan’s war against the Interior Ministry, Kuro does not break. He endures, holds fast to his bond with his shinobi Wolf, and eventually takes the extraordinary step of proposing immortality severance, the chance to end the Dragon’s Heritage before anyone else can weaponize it. His relationship with Wolf is the moral center of the entire narrative. Where Wolf is iron and silence, Kuro is conscience and resolve, and the anime expands their dynamic beyond what the game’s strict first-person perspective could ever show.
Who Voices Kuro in Sekiro: No Defeat?
Japanese voice actress Miyuki Sato reprises the role she originated in FromSoftware’s 2019 game, bringing Kuro back to life for the anime adaptation. Her performance in the original game earned considerable praise for its ability to convey a boy’s quiet gravity without ever losing the vulnerability that makes the character so affecting. Outside the Sekiro franchise, Sato is also recognized for voicing young Noctis Lucis Caelum in Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV. No English dub cast has been announced for Sekiro: No Defeat at the time of this writing.
