Hunter Peterson’s Rise from San Diego to the Sound Booth

Out of San Diego, California, Hunter Peterson built his career from the ground up – earning a film production degree from the University of Southern California before pivoting fully into voice work. His training pedigree is grounded in the craft: studies at Kalmenson/Kalmenson and sessions under industry veterans including Marc Cashman and Crispin Freeman. What started as commercial and trailer work quietly snowballed into one of the more interesting dual careers in the current voice acting space – part game performer, part digital creator, all built on a voice that sources consistently describe as warm, powerful, and deeply grounded.

Since 2015, Peterson has been a working voice actor, clocking over 1,000 projects. His commercial reach is extensive: Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Nike, Toyota, and Hyundai have all trusted his delivery, and he served as the global campaign voice for Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. On the broadcast side, he became the network voice of BUZZR. None of this happened overnight – it was the result of years spent honing a read that felt human rather than performed.

The Gaming Credits That Defined His Character Work

Video games became the arena where Peterson’s character-specific range really landed. His most prominent game role to date is Lord Gnaeus in Honkai: Star Rail (2023), a performance that resonated strongly enough with the game’s fanbase that he held an AMA on the Honkai subreddit – a level of community traction that few voice actors in supporting roles achieve. The response to lines like “Best me, and grant me an end befitting a warrior!” reflected how much weight he brought to a character that could have been a footnote.

That momentum carried into a string of notable casting decisions. In 2024, he voiced Agni in Smite 2 and Baelran in AFK Journey. Then 2025 became his biggest year in games: Pastos in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, and the return to the Octopath franchise as Cyrus Albright in Octopath Traveler 0 – a role he confirmed himself on X, expressing genuine excitement at returning to the Square Enix world. He also contributed voice work to Genshin Impact. Additionally, his earlier SMITE credits span a range of skins and characters including Nicol Bolas, Danzaburou, Thor, and Vulcan cosmetic variants.

SCP Explained, Limenade, and the YouTube Dimension

Alongside the booth work, Peterson built a parallel career as a digital creator with a footprint most voice actors simply don’t have. As the voice and host behind Limenade and SCP: Explained on YouTube, his combined output across multiple channels has cleared 12.5 billion views – a number that belongs in a different conversation entirely. His persona helped drive the SCP: Explained channel to over two million subscribers, while Limenade amassed a loyal following before its channel was terminated following a copyright claim dispute.

That YouTube presence opened doors to collaborations with creators at the top of the platform – MrBeast, Arin Hanson, Veritasium, and others. Peterson even served as Head of Production for Beast Philanthropy during a period in 2021, overseeing content that reached millions. His production work extends to founding BROKEN ARROW, an independent company developing animated and live-action projects, including Battle of the Bands – an animated series featuring voice actors such as Erica Mendez, Sarah Nattochenny, and Erika Ishii.
