Marcus Fenix

Marcus Fenix’s Story Role in E-Day
In Gears of War: E-Day, Marcus is a war hero returning home, only to be thrust into an entirely new kind of conflict. The Locust Horde erupts from the ground on Sera, and alongside his closest friend Dom Santiago, Marcus becomes one of the first soldiers to face these subterranean monsters. Unlike the battle-hardened sergeant of the original trilogy, this younger version of Marcus carries the grief of losing his childhood best friend Carlos Santiago in the Pendulum Wars, making him rawer and less emotionally armored than players have seen before. The game is also set to explore the origins of the iconic scars on Marcus’s face, tying visual lore directly into the story.
Marcus Fenix’s Personality
Cold on the outside, fiercely loyal underneath. Marcus rarely shows emotion beyond controlled aggression, a trait rooted in a difficult childhood, an absent father in Professor Adam Fenix, and the traumatic loss of Carlos. Yet the cracks in that armor show when he loses teammates; he grieves, retreats, and then refocuses. In E-Day, players see this version of Marcus before prison, before the full weight of the Locust War, at a moment when the soldier and the human being are still visibly in conflict.
Who Voices Marcus Fenix in Gears of War: E-Day?
John DiMaggio returns to voice Marcus Fenix in Gears of War: E-Day, reprising the role he has held across every major numbered entry in the franchise. DiMaggio is also widely recognized as the voice of Bender in Futurama, one of the most iconic animated characters in television history. Carlos Ferro likewise returns to voice Dominic Santiago, reuniting the legendary duo that defined the emotional core of the original trilogy.
