Gibraltar’s Heart Behind the Shield

Makoa Gibraltar grew up watching his parents volunteer for Solace’s search-and-rescue association, and that protective instinct runs straight through everything he does. A car crash left him and his boyfriend trapped under a mudslide, and during the rescue his father lost an arm saving them both. That moment reshaped his whole life. On the battlefield he plants his Dome of Protection to absorb incoming fire and calls down a Defensive Bombardment that turns any open field into a no-go zone. Teammates love the security; enemies hate the wall. Sweet-natured off the clock, fierce when it counts, he was actually the very first character the developers built for the game.

Who Voices Gibraltar in Apex Legends?

Branscombe Richmond brings the warmth and gravel to Gibraltar’s voice. A veteran character actor of Native Hawaiian and Tahitian descent, Richmond is widely recognized as Bobby Sixkiller from the 1990s series Renegade and as Jesup in The Scorpion King. In the Japanese dub, the role is handled by Yasuhiro Mamiya.
