Axel

Video Game: Alien: Isolation

Stepping off the Torrens onto a station gone dark, Amanda Ripley meets exactly one person willing to talk instead of shoot, and his name is Axel. He's clung to Sevastopol's lower decks for a week, hoarding scraps and waiting on a rescue ship that never arrives.

Axel’s Role on Sevastopol

Jittery, twitchy, and quick to raise a revolver, he’s hardly the comforting ally you’d hope to find in a horror story. That hostility softens once Ripley earns his trust, and the paranoia gives way to dry sarcasm and the odd quirky remark. The two cut a deal: he’ll guide her toward the transmission terminal if she secures him a seat off the station. His survival streak ends brutally, though. Axel becomes the first person the Xenomorph kills right in front of Amanda, snatched by the tail and dragged into a vent before she can blink. Players can also take control of him in Survivor Mode.

Who Voices Axel in Alien: Isolation?

Scottish actor George Anton supplied the voice, motion capture, and likeness for Axel, giving the role its frayed, on-edge realism. Viewers might know Anton from his on-screen work as well, including Konstantin in the submarine thriller K-19: The Widowmaker opposite Harrison Ford, Admiral Ramsay in Churchill, and Angus in the Netflix survival film Calibre.
