Flint Marko / Sandman

New York has never seen a storm quite like Flint Marko, and in Marvel's Spider-Man 2, that storm comes crashing down on the city before the opening credits have barely settled. Serving as the game's opening boss, Sandman forces both Peter Parker and Miles Morales to team up immediately, flooding the streets with sand and making it brutally clear that this rematch is personal.

Flint Marko’s Story Role in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Long before the Venom symbiote or Kraven’s deadly hunt dominated the headlines, Flint Marko was already one of Peter Parker’s most grueling early adversaries. A bank robber transformed on a molecular level by irradiated sand, he spent years giving Spider-Man some of the worst beatings of his career. By the time Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 picks up, Marko has resurfaced after a period of laying low, now squarely in the crosshairs of Kraven the Hunter, who has turned New York into a personal game preserve. The timing could not be worse. Sandman’s ability to conjure minions from sand, grow to catastrophic size, and harden his body to the density of sandstone makes him a walking natural disaster, one that two Spider-Men together barely contain. Underneath the raw destructive power, though, there is a man whose final motivations trace back to one person: his daughter Keemia, the quiet reason he once tried to walk away from villainy altogether.
