Newcastle, whose real name is Jackson Williams (also known as Lamont Craig), is a Support Legend introduced in Season 13 of Apex Legends. Born in 2694 on the war-torn planet Gridiron, Jackson grew up in a military family alongside his siblings, including his sister Anita Williams, better known in the Games as Bangalore. After faking his death and assuming the alias of a local hero, he secretly entered the Apex Games to earn prize money and protect his home community of Harris Valley from the grip of a criminal syndicate called the Forgotten Families.

Kit and Playstyle

Newcastle plays as the team’s living shield, built around protecting fallen teammates rather than just himself. His three core abilities work together around that identity:

• Mobile Shield (Tactical): Throws a controllable drone that projects a moving energy barrier, giving teammates dynamic cover mid-fight
• Retrieve the Wounded (Passive): Lets Newcastle drag knocked allies across the ground while shielding them, keeping rescues alive under fire
• Castle Wall (Ultimate): Newcastle leaps to a targeted location and slams down, erecting a massive fortified barrier that gives his squad full 180-degree cover

His Fortified passive perk further reduces incoming damage, making him one of the tankiest legends in the roster.

English Voice: Gabe Kunda

Newcastle is voiced in English by Gabe Kunda, a Dallas, Texas-born voice actor and Grammy-nominated vocalist. Kunda is one of the most recognizable voices in modern gaming and anime, with standout roles that include KAY/O in Valorant, Inarius in Diablo IV, Macaron in Hi-Fi Rush, and Blade in Marvel Rivals. His anime credits are equally impressive: Rock Lock in My Hero Academia, Fisher Tiger in One Piece, and the Bat Devil in Chainsaw Man.

Japanese Voice: Miyamoto Takahiro

The Japanese version of Newcastle is voiced by 宮本 崇弘 (Miyamoto Takahiro), affiliated with Aoni Production . He took on the role starting from Season 13, voicing Jackson’s story from his days on Gridiron onward . Miyamoto is known for dubbing international productions, including Olaf in Vikings: Valhalla and Paz Vizsla in The Book of Boba Fett .
