Ballistic

Ballistic, whose real name is August Montgomery Brinkman, is a 63-year-old Assault Legend in Apex Legends, introduced in Season 17 as part of the Arsenal update. A retired gunslinger from Gaea, he returned to the Apex Games not for money or fame, but out of deeply personal motivation, as hinted at in his voice line “Remember August, you do this for him”. His silver fox persona and refined, aristocratic bearing set him apart from every other Legend on the roster.
Abilities and Playstyle
Ballistic’s kit revolves entirely around weaponry, making him a force multiplier for the whole squad. His passive ability, Sling, lets him carry a third weapon, a first for any Legend in the game, though that extra gun cannot hold attachments. His tactical, Whistler, fires a smart projectile that attaches to an enemy and causes their weapon to overheat the faster they shoot, forcing them to either slow down or take self-inflicted damage. His ultimate, Tempest, buffs nearby teammates with faster reloads, increased movement speed, and infinite ammo, while also upgrading his Sling weapon to a gold-tier version for the duration. In coordinated team fights, activating Tempest at the right moment can completely swing a firefight.
English Voice Actor: Robin Atkin Downes
Ballistic is voiced in English by Robin Atkin Downes, a British-American actor with over 400 voice acting credits. He is widely recognized as the Medic in Team Fortress 2, Travis Touchdown in the No More Heroes series, Kazuhira Miller in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, and Rico Rodriguez in the Just Cause franchise. He also voiced the Prophet of Regret in Halo 2 and The Master in Guillermo del Toro’s TV series The Strain. His naturally authoritative, sharp-edged delivery is a perfect fit for Ballistic’s cold, calculating personality.
Japanese Voice Actor: Akimitsu Takase
In the Japanese dub, Ballistic is voiced by Akimitsu Takase (高瀬 右光), a veteran seiyuu born on September 1, 1970 in Chiba Prefecture. He is known for roles across several notable anime productions including Naruto (Kaiza), Attack on Titan (Father Mikasa), Beelzebub (Reiji Kiriya), and Hikaru no Go. He also contributed Japanese dubbing work to live-action projects like Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Hail, Caesar!. His experience in gruff, mature male characters makes him well suited to bring Ballistic’s weathered gravitas to Japanese-speaking audiences.
