Scoot McNairy

Scoot McNairy voice actor profile
Birth Date: 11/11/1977
Scoot McNairy is an American actor from Dallas, Texas, born November 11, 1977, best known for his live action work in Argo, Halt and Catch Fire, and True Detective. His voice work in games and animation is a smaller but genuine part of his career, picking up momentum from 2013 onward.

McNairy voiced Scoot and the Sun Thief in Axe Cop (2013), the FXX animated series based on the wildly absurdist webcomic written by a seven-year-old. He then took on multiple roles including Cody Lowell and Kurt in Pantheon (2022), AMC’s ambitious animated series about uploaded human consciousness that earned serious critical attention before AMC controversially pulled it before its second season aired. In Invincible Season 2 (2023), he voiced King Lizard, one of the recurring villain-adjacent characters in Robert Kirkman’s bloody superhero universe.

Video Games

His games credits are limited but worth noting. He voiced Spyro in a 2024 short titled Other Other, a smaller project outside the mainline Spyro franchise. His transition between prestige TV and animation voice work suggests a career where voice roles come organically rather than being a primary focus.

The Bigger Picture

McNairy is not a career voice actor in the traditional sense. He is a screen actor who takes voice roles selectively, which actually makes his animation work more interesting. When he shows up in a booth, it tends to be for projects with some creative weight behind them, Pantheon being the clearest example.
