Shugo Nakamura’s Place in Japanese Voice Acting
Starting his career at 26 – later than most in the industry – Shugo Nakamura built a career defined by memorable lead roles across anime, games, and music. Affiliated with Across Entertainment and Lantis, he debuted in February 2015 as Teru Tendo in The Idolmaster SideM, a role that put him on the map almost immediately. He went on to win the Best New Actor award at the 13th Voice Acting Awards in 2019.

His portrayal of Ryota Miyagi in the theatrical film THE FIRST SLAM DUNK brought him particular attention, as the film became a major box office success and one of the most praised sports anime films in years.

Music Career Alongside Voice Work
Nakamura launched his solo music career under his own name in October 2019, signing with Lantis. He released his 5th anniversary album carVe in October 2024, and a 9th single was announced for release in 2025. His musical output blends with his voice work – he performed character songs for several of his anime roles before establishing a fully independent artist identity.
