Dr. Dre

The storyline follows Franklin Clinton helping Dr. Dre recover a stolen phone containing unreleased music tracks. Rockstar Games even built a recording studio within their motion capture stage specifically for Dre to record his performance.

He also appeared earlier in The Cayo Perico Heist update, making a brief cameo before his larger role in The Contract. Anderson .Paak and DJ Pooh also voice themselves in the same DLC, with DJ Pooh hosting the in-game radio station West Coast Classics.

How It Came Together

DJ Pooh was the key figure in convincing Dre to participate Dre had initially resisted, not wanting to “make things for kids”. Once on board, Rockstar built the entire expansion around him, integrating both his performance and his music at every level of the game. Dr. Dre also produced original and unreleased music specifically for the DLC.
