Myrna

Barret Wallace carries his grief like a second skin, and at the heart of that grief is the woman he lost long before the events of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Myrna Wallace’s story is one of love cut tragically short, yet her influence reverberates through every choice Barret makes across the entire game.
Myrna’s Story Role
Born and raised in Corel, a small mining town on the western continent, Myrna married Barret when both were young. Unlike her husband, she openly opposed the construction of Shinra’s Mako Reactor in Corel, fearing what it would bring to their home. When Shinra ultimately turned on the town to cover up a more profitable energy discovery, Myrna was killed in the crossfire during the assault on Corel, a loss that became the foundational wound driving Barret’s crusade against the corporation.
Myrna’s Debut in Rebirth
Though referenced in the original Final Fantasy VII, Myrna was never actually shown in that game, leaving fans to imagine her for decades. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth finally brings her to life in a flashback sequence set five years before the main story, giving players their first and only glimpse of her at the end of her life. Many fans and critics noted that her design draws intentional parallels to Aerith, mirroring the narrative relationship between Cloud and Barret in terms of love and irreversible loss. Her brief appearance carries enormous emotional weight precisely because so much of Barret’s identity is tied to her memory, and Rebirth uses her presence to reframe his evolution from rage-driven fighter to protective father figure for Marlene.
Voice Cast for Myrna
