Zack Fair

Zack Fair’s Story Role
Zack Fair entered the Shinra Electric Power Company with one clear ambition: to become a hero as legendary as Sephiroth himself. Rising to the rank of SOLDIER: First Class under mentor Angeal Hewley, Zack ultimately inherited Angeal’s iconic Buster Sword, a symbol of honor he would one day pass to Cloud Strife. In Rebirth, Zack operates in a parallel timeline where he survived his last stand against Shinra forces, desperately racing back to Midgar with a mako-poisoned Cloud in tow, hoping to reunite with Aerith. The game reveals that the Planet itself, through its Whispers, works to correct deviations from the original timeline, and in a gut-wrenching conclusion, Zack is pulled back to his own doomed world, left standing alone against the meteor.
Zack’s Personality and Combat
Optimistic to the point it almost hurts, Zack is the kind of person who grins in the face of impossible odds and never lets go of his dream, no matter how many times fate tries to crush it. In battle, he wields the Buster Sword with a Charge mechanic, building power through three levels that amplify his attacks; his signature moves include Chain Slash, Meteor Shots, and High Braver, mirroring his Crisis Core playstyle. He also shares unique synergy abilities with Cloud, most notably SOLDIER’s Honor, where the two attack in perfect tandem, granting Cloud a limit level boost and Zack temporary unlimited MP.

Who Voices Zack Fair in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth?
Caleb Pierce voices Zack Fair in the English dub, reprising the role he first took on in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Remake and also carried through Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion. On the Japanese side, Kenichi Suzumura brings Zack to life, a veteran voice actor also known for roles like Soji Okita in Hakuouki and Rogue Cheney in Fairy Tail. Suzumura himself teased ahead of Rebirth’s release that Zack would play “a very active role,” and the game more than delivered on that promise.
